The DeBrovy Family Legacy: A Story of Entrepreneurship & Compassion

The DeBrovy Foundation, Inc. was officially incorporated on September 4, 2025, to honor the enduring legacy of the DeBrovy family and their tradition of benevolence.

The family patriarch, Hyman DeBrovy, and his wife, Melvina, established their family roots in Kentucky, where they raised twelve children. In 1885, Hyman founded DeBrovy & Sons Tarpaulins in Louisville, Kentucky. This successful venture provided high-quality tarpaulins and essential canvas products for local farmers, sustaining the family and serving the community for generations.
Despite the prosperity of the business, there were no male heirs to continue the family name, prompting the descendants to establish this Foundation. The founding members sought a lasting way to commemorate the family’s history and uphold their commitment to community giving and social impact.
